In His Image

In the Book of Genesis it states, “Then God said, Let us make man in our image … in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Some have taken this to mean that God, like people, has a face and a body with hands and feet. With the discoveries of DNA and genes, some have even taken it to mean that what we refer to as God are really “aliens” or extraterrestrial beings who have passed their traits onto us. Could it be that these are both wrong? Could it be that God did not only create humans in His image, but all of creation in His image? Perhaps we must look past this corporeal state of existence to see the true meaning? Could it be that God is spirit and soul, and that we are also spirit and soul, and that all of life is also spirit and soul? And so, if we are all spirit and soul, then perhaps with each breath of God, life is created. From One there was two, and from two became three, and from three became four, etc. Though each sees themselves as being separate, they are all the same. They are all in the image of One, for in truth there is no separation, except that which exists in our minds?

  1. Love this. I need to sleep on it, but reading it somehow makes me feel peaceful.
