False Enlightenment

Enlightenment is one of those tricky words. Everyone has an idea of it, or what it should mean. Get a little glimpse and people start to think they are prophets. Get a little glimpse and people start to think they are here to give everyone their brand. Perhaps enlightenment is understanding everyone has a choice. Perhaps enlightenment is understanding that not everyone will see things from your vantage point. Perhaps enlightenment is understanding that everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student. Perhaps enlightenment is all of these things, but also living it. We see ourselves of that which we wish to see of ourselves. We see others of that which we wish to see of others.

Just because there is chum in the water doesn’t mean you have to eat it.
